Something rather important I think I should clear up is my approach to gaming. I consider myself an enthusiast: I read news very regularly, listen to some podcasts, I have well-rounded tastes… But I’m an enthusiast on a budget.

My budget constrains both time and money. I have a career, family,…

…the games I have not played. There are a lot. Some would consider my backlog a travesty, but I look forward to enjoying it whenever I can.

I haven’t entered the next generation yet, and actually haven’t done much with this generation. As much as I support developers and publishers, a lot of my games come secondhand so that I can afford a few more of them. That, and I haven’t had the time to run through the larger time commitments.

Lately, I have been having a bit of a nostalgia trip. I think the recent rash of remake, re-releases, and revists (i.e. Castle of Illusion, Earthbound, A Link Between Worlds) have pushed me do some revisiting of my own.

Between some Diablo III, Killzone: Mercenary, and Pokemon Y, I will be working through some of the following. If anyone sees anything they think I might not have played (read: you’re probably right) that fits with the list, feel free to chime in!

Mega Man 2 or 3 (suggestions?)

Super Metroid

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

TLoZ: A Link to the Past -> Link’s Awakening -> Minish Cap -> Oracle of Seasons

Dragon Warrior III

Fire Emblem

Phantasy Star IV

Chrono Trigger ->Cross (proooobably won’t be able to commit to this right now…)

Final Fantasy III

Final Fantasy Tactics

These are listed in a mild order of importance, interest, and likelihood of me actually following through and playing them. The Mega Man, Metroid/Vania, and maybe some other platform style games will likely be a toe dipped in the water… I realized the other day when starting ALttP that I really suck at games. I love them, but I suck at them. So I’ll do my best to get a taste for it, and move on to something else while I still have motivation and time.

That is all, let me know if you have anything to add, change, or suggest that I pass on something. This is my first draft, and we’ll see where it goes from here. Happy gaming!!

Hey, everybody!! One of my recent personal goals (inspired by New Years resolutions everywhere) was to start blogging a bit. I love twitter, but so much of what I want to say exceeds 140 characters. I’ve always used tumblr as an image browser, but recently started enjoying some blogs here. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that tumblr would be a great medium for what I want to do.

And with that, here we are!! This is blog post number one for me, or rather a feed I’m using as a blog/twitter hybrid. This marks a tiny step for a big goal. We’ll see where is goes.
